2018 Mayor’s Design Awards Back to the Future Category Winner
2200 California is comprised of three masonry buildings that once housed an extensive Porsche collection. Arrow B worked with VanWest Partners to transform the buildings into a mixed use, multi-tenant development that celebrates the existing architectural elements and is reminiscent of Porsche details from a 1959 RSK formerly housed within. With different floor elevations in each building and existing floodplains, reconciling tenant entries was a great challenge. Masonry details were kept intact and highlighted with decorative exterior lighting creating a friendly approach to the building. New canopies emphasize each entry and updated paint brings a unique identity to the development. Facades with architectural character were given historic paint schemes or were restored to the original brick. The corner unit, stripped of its charm by ad hoc repairs over the last century, was updated with more contemporary details and graphic paint. Existing masonry openings were restored with new storefront and garage doors, allowing the California 22nd Street facades to open up and contribute vibrancy and life to the quickly developing Arapahoe Square district. The team also worked with tenants Woods Boss and Solutions Lounge featuring Escapology.
